Southern Village Home-based Businesses

Southern Village’s Market Street is now offering Southern Village home-based business owners the opportunity to advertise on the Southern Village website, www.southernvillage.com.  Your business will be included in either “Shops”, “Dining”, “Services” or “Music”, with a notation to show that it’s a home-based business.  Then at the bottom of the page, there will be a link that will list all of the home-based businesses.

Your ad will feature the name of your business, a brief summary of what you do, a logo or photo, and your name and contact information, including a link to your business website if you have one.

The cost of doing this will be $250/year, which is about $21/month.  In addition to appearing on the website, you would be permitted to publicize your business on the Village Green when we hold events.

We reserve the right to approve or decline your ad at our discretion.  If you’re interested in this opportunity or have any questions, please contact Bev Carr at bcarr@mcarolina.com or 919.969.7301 x231.

Project Graduation

On June 11, 2011 more than 800 seniors will graduate from Chapel Hill High, East Chapel Hill High and Carrboro High schools!  That evening, the 18th Annual Project Graduation celebration will be held at the UNC Student Union.  A long-standing tradition, Project Graduation is a drug and alcohol free, fun and safe opportunity for all graduates to celebrate their accomplishments.  This all-night celebration keeps our students off the roads on Graduation Night – an evening notoriously dangerous for our kids to be in cars.  Historically, more than 80% of the graduates from our schools attend this memorable event.

Temporary Closure of a Portion of the Fan Branch Trail

In 2009 the Town hired a contractor to repair the bridge decking on two bridges on the Fan Branch Trail.  The work was completed last year, but the new decking has warped and must be reinstalled.  As a result the two bridges will be temporarily closed beginning the week of November 29.  We expect the work to go quickly, but do expect some inconvenience to trail users. Please respect the closure signs and feel free to share this email with anyone you know who might use the trail.  The bridges are located south of Culbreth Road and north of Edgewater Circle.
