Southern Village HOA

The street trees in Southern Village are excellent assets for our community. The Board of Directors has taken a forward-looking approach to tree management by replacing diseased and dead trees and hiring arborist Jon Hanna to manage the planting of new trees and the care of the healthy trees.

Jon has a special request for people who are fortunate to have one of the newly planted trees near their homes: please water the trees as the weather has been warmer than normal and the trees suffer in the heat and will not thrive without sufficient water.

Join the Southern Village food drive for TABLE, a Carrboro based non-profit serving hungry children in our area.

Our neighborhood is collecting SHELF STABLE MILK (white or chocolate, lunch box portions) and CANNED VEGETABLES.

On the first, second, third, fourth and fifth of each month, blue collection bins with the TABLE logo will be at five locations in Southern Village, including Ship-N-Shop Village Mart and Southern Village Club, plus three residences throughout the neighborhood.

This is an on-going effort.  Please incorporate shelf stable milk and/or canned vegetables into your regular shopping list.  Donations of all sizes welcome.

Orange County now collects plastics that are not bottles #2 and #5 to be recycled at Drop-Off locations at  University Mall, Meadowmont, Carrboro Plaza, Cedar Falls Park and Hampton Pointe.

EnergyStar Appliance Replacement and Rebate Program offers 15% rebates on EnergyStar rated appliances in addition to any store, manufacturer or other discounts being offered.
