SVHOA Annual General Meeting Summary

At last night’s Annual General Meeting the 77 members present in person or by proxy took part in the vote for one new director to serve a three year term. The results of the vote were: Jeremy Purbrick, 61 votes & Rainer Dammers, 16 votes. Accordingly, Mr. Purbrick was declared elected.

Following the AGM the board met and voted for these officer appointments for 2009: President, Jeremy Purbrick; Vice President, Jason Luna; Treasurer, Deanna Schuerbeke and Secretary, Bill Riggs.

SVHOA AGM Tomorrow Night

As a reminder, the Southern Village Homeowners Association Annual General Meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, February 11th @ 7pm. The meeting will take place at Christ Church Ascension Hall. Doors open at 6:30pm. The meeting will last one hour.

Christ Church Choir to perform Faure’s REQUIEM

The Chancel Choir at Christ Church in Southern Village is beginning rehearsals of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem (Wednesdays, Feb. 18-Apr. 1) at 6:30pm. There are no auditions necessary and choral scores will be provided. The work will be performed with orchestra in their Palm Sunday worship services on Sun., Apr. 5 (9:45 and 11:00 am).

All parts (soprano, tenor, alto and bass) are being sought to augment the 30-voice Chancel Choir. To make sure there is a choral score reserved for you, or if you would like to sing but cannot attend the first rehearsal on Feb. 18, please contact Director of Music, Dr. Daniel Steinert, AAGO @ 969-1686 or dsteinert@christmethodist.org.

Valentines Day Homemade Card Contest

Southern Village is holding its first ever homemade Valentines Card contest. Participants are encouraged to exercise their creativity, and may enter as many times as they wish. Winners will be chosen in adult and youth categories. Cards can be “mailed” at specially decorated “mailboxes” in any one of the 14 participating businesses in Southern Village. Proposed Hotel Public Hearing January 21 Town Hall

The Parking Lot Committee of the SVHOA would like to inform you that the Public Hearing for the proposed hotel in Southern Village is scheduled for Wednesday, January 21st at 7:00PM at the Chapel Hill Town Hall 405 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.

If you wish to address the Council at the meeting, please go to the front right corner of the Council Chamber and sign up with the Town Clerk. There is no requirement to speak to the Town Council if you want to attend. Your attendance is strongly encouraged.
