A bunch of your Southern Village neighbors are taking over Citrus for New Year’s Eve, and we hope to see you there!
Appetizers will be served starting at 8:30, followed by salad, a main course, and dessert/coffee. The menu is attached, as well as an optional wine pairing. (Let them know if you need a vegetarian substitution when you call to make your reservation). A cash bar for wine and cocktails will also be available.
Citrus is going to arrange the tables so there will be plenty of room to move about and to dance if you feel moved. There will be music, satellite TV for the ball drop, noise makers and a champagne toast at midnight.
Forward this message to your friends and tell them to RSVP directly to Citrus 933-0623 by December 26.
We’re looking forward to bringing in 2008 with you- Southern Village style!
SVHOA, with the help of our new management company, is planning to create an online membership directory in 2008. Please click on the below form and complete it if you would like your contact information to appear in this searchable online directory.
The directory will be secure and accessible only by SVHOA members. Unique user names and passwords will be used to access this directory. Look for more information in the weeks ahead and at the 2008 AGM, scheduled for February 12th.
Southern Village Neighbors,
We are very sorry to inform you that due to the potential fire hazard resulting from the extreme drought, the organizers have decided to cancel the Light-a-Luminary event this year. This has been a difficult decision, but the members of the organizing committee and the block captains all agree that it is the right thing to do.
As you probably know, several communities have issued a ban on luminaries this year, and other communities have placed restrictions on their use. In addition, the State of North Carolina has issued an outdoor burning ban which forbids any flame beyond 100 feet from an occupied dwelling. While we probably could have obtained a permit from the Town of Chapel Hill to light the candles with certain restrictions, we have decided against it. The issue of lighting luminaries has received a lot of media attention during the past two weeks, and several neighbors have been questioning whether we should proceed. As we thought about it, we realized that lighting 7,200 candles during an extreme drought is simply not a good idea.
Thank you for continuing to support this event. We look forward to better luck next year.
